Jeju Sunflower Festival 2026 Tips for Visiting Yeongcheon-dong

The sunflowers look their absolute best
in the morning, when the light is soft, and again around sunset, when everything glows in warm golden tones.

Under the harsh midday sun, shadows get stronger and the colors can look a little washed out,
so if you’re going mainly for photos, those earlier or later hours are your best bet.

There’s also going to be a free sunflower seedling giveaway,
but quantities are limited, so if you really want one, I’d recommend arriving early.

The festival site includes dirt paths winding
between the sunflower fields like a walking trail, so comfortable sneakers or low-heeled shoes are the way to go.
And since the late-summer Jeju sun can be intense, a wide-brim hat or parasol is a smart thing to bring too.

Jeju Sunflower Festival 2026 and the Seok Joomyung Butterfly Trail

A healing walking course: the Seok Joomyung Butterfly Trail

If you want to keep walking a little longer after the festival,
I highly recommend the Seok Joomyung Butterfly Trail near the sunflower festival grounds.

Named after butterfly researcher
Dr. Seok Joomyung, often called “Korea’s Fabre,” who stayed in Seogwipo from March 1943 to June 1945
while studying butterflies, this trail follows the traces of his time in the area
and already feels full of story from the name alone.

The forest path and village road connect naturally, making it an easy walk for all ages,
and along the way you’ll find wooden deck paths, forest trails, and rest areas
that make it perfect for a slow, relaxing stroll.

Starting at the entrance to Wonyang Falls,
the route passes Hannon Crater, Dosuncheon, and the Hannon Ecological Trail,
then Seogwipo Industrial Science High School, Yangsugwinang Tree, and Naetgil Iso,
before continuing to the Bamboo Forest Trail, Yeongcheon Falls, Jeongbang-dong, and Jeongbang Falls.
As you follow the course,
you get to experience both the natural beauty and the history of Seogwipo at the same time.

After taking in the waves of sunflowers,
this feels like the perfect add-on if you want to end the day with a peaceful healing walk.
